KOCHEL AM SEE / GERMANY
The conference will be held at the “Heimatbühne” located in a park, surrounded by mountains, just a 5 min walk from the lake
Address: Mittenwalder Str. 14, 82431 Kochel am See, Bavaria, Germany
HOW TO GET THERE BY CAR: From the A 95 motorway, take the Murnau/Kochel exit, then follow the signs first to Kochel a. See and from there to Walchensee. From the A8 Motorway, take the Holzkirchen exit (when coming from Munich) or the Irschenberg exit (when coming from Salzburg or Kufstein for instance) and take the B472 road to Bichl via Bad Tölz, then turn left onto the B11 to Kochel a. See via Benediktbeuern before proceeding over the pass to Walchensee.
Car is the best option, if your accommodation is a few kilometers away from the conference or if you plan to do some sightseeing in the beautiful region after the conference. For example the famous Neuschwanstein Castle is just an hour drive away.
HOW TO GET THERE BY TRAIN: Take the train from Munich to Kochel (changing trains in Tutzing is necessary for some connections). There is a regular bus service between Kochel a. See train station (station name “Bahnhof, Kochel a. See”) and Walchensee. Get off at the bus station just in front of the conference venue (station name “Heimatbühne, Kochel a. See”). It´s just a 2 min ride from the train station. Check here for the schedule.
If you travel in a group, there is a Bavaria day ticket, which is valid Monday-Friday after 9 am and Saturday/Sunday all day. This is also interesting for your Oktoberfest-visit! See more information on the ticket here.
The easiest way to find your way through public transport in Bavaria and get your ticket online is by using the MVG App on your smartphone.
Another option nationwide is the Deutsche Bahn App.
THE NEAREST AIRPORTS ARE: Munich Airport (MUC), Innsbruck (INN), Salzburg (SZG), Memmingen (FMM) and Stuttgart (STR).
The transfer by train from Munich airport to Kochel is about 2 hours and there are frequent connections (it goes via Munich, where you have to change trains).
After you have checked in at your hotel, you will receive a guest card with which you can use public transport in the green marked zone free of charge.
If you can no longer find suitable accommodation in Kochel itself, you can also book accommodation in the neighbouring villages, e.g. at Walchensee, in Schlehdorf or Benediktbeuern and use bus or train (Attention: limited services at night, check schedules!)
